Irene Thompson

It is with deep sorrow and great love, that we announce the passing of Irene Cora Thompson. She was born May 25, 1940 in Rockford, MN and passed on November 7, 2022 at her residence in Altoona, WI.

Irene loved the outdoors! Eagerly participating in deer hunting, fishing season, sports such as softball, horseshoes, and catching a good football game. She also loved bowling, line dancing throughout her years and was a voracious reader collecting: mystery, thriller and romances alike.

She was a devoted mother and grandmother. Being able to participate and view, as many events she could for her grandchildren, brought her never ending joy.

She is lovingly remembered by her sons Scott (Annette) and David (Lisa); grandchildren Amy, Laura, Veronica, Michelle and extended family.

She is preceded in death by her son Michael; parents Herman and Cora Mielke; siblings Ruth (John), Joanne (Pat), and Arthur.

She will be dearly missed by all!

A memorial gathering will be held at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona on Saturday, November 12, 2022 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. Following the gathering, she will be laid to rest with her son Michael at Elmwood Cemetery in Rockford, MN, at a later date.
