Irene Drinkwine

Irene Alice Drinkwine, 88, of Eau Claire, WI, passed away on July 28, 2017.
Irene was born in Gleason, WI on November 2, 1928. She graduated from Colfax High School class of 1947.

Irene was married to Claude Drinkwine on June 11, 1946; they were married 53 years when her beloved Claude passed away July 1999.

Irene worked as homemaker until 2011 when she moved to King Veterans Home in Waupaca. She was a stay at home Mom who raised 6 sons. She enjoyed crafts, embroidery, gardening, sewing, needle point, reading and putting puzzles together at King Veterans Home for the last 6 years. She was known as the “Puzzle Lady” at King. She was, at one time, a member of the Red Hat Society. She modeled clothing for a short time. She was known for her free spirit and ready smile. She loved to laugh. She also had a naughty sense of humor.

Irene is survived by her six sons, Perry (Barbara), Rene (Cathy), Mike, Steve, Kris, and Pat (Shelly) Drinkwine; grandchildren, Steve, Brent, Jessica, Samantha, Michelle, Jolene, Chad and Tony, along with 9 great grandchildren and other family and friends.

Irene is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Claude; father, Charles Woods; mother Elsie Woods nee Galusha; beloved brother Donald and half-sister Sharon Galusha.

The family of Irene Alice Drinkwine wishes to thank the staff of the King Veterans Home in Waupaca for their loving care of Irene. She was loved by the staff and members there.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 12pm on Wednesday, August 2, 2017 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy, Altoona, WI 54720. Richard Engle will be officiating.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A private family burial will follow the funeral.
