Gladys Elizabeth Pickerign, age 93 of Lake Hallie, passed away with her family by her side on Tuesday, September 17, 2024. She was born on March 26, 1931 in Mt. Morris, Illinois to the late Fred and Gladys (Thurm) Spickler.
She married Jack Pickerign on February 19, 1947. They farmed until Jack passed away in 1998.
Gladys drove school bus for Chippewa Yellow Bus for 46 years. She had a strong faith and loved going to church. Gladys loved how close her children and grandchildren and put them above all things. She loved cooking, her friends, sewing, thrift sales and an occasional trip to the casino. Most of all, she loved everyone.
She is survived by her children: Kenneth (Jean), Bonnie Staves (Jeff Klemke), Tom (Nancy Wilson), Dennis (Kim), Krissy (Jim) Verbracken, Becky Germain (Shane Hoffstatter), and special friend Andy Guthrie; grandchildren: Mike, Jennifer, Tammy, Wendy, Jeremy, Amanda, James, Renee, Joe, Brandon, Nathan, Natasha, Adam, Jade and Arabella; 27 great-grandchildren; sister Loretta; and brothers Victor and Clifford. She is further survived by many friends.
Preceding her in death are her parents, husband Jack, daughter-in-law Tammy and brother Fred.
A celebration of life will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Friday, September 27, 2024 at Hallie United Methodist Church, 12146 22 nd Ave., Chippewa Falls with Pastor Paolo Veasquez officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 p.m. until time of service. Inurnment will be held at Prairie View Cemetery, Chippewa Falls, at a later date.
