Gerald Bischoff

December 31, 1969 — January 29, 2024

Gerald P. Bischoff, age 90, of Eau Claire, died on Monday, January 29, 2024 at the Neighbors of Dunn County in Menomonie of heart disease and dementia.  He was born on the family farm on January 17, 1934 to the late Carl and Rosecelia (Quast) Bischoff.

Gerald graduated from Eau Claire Senior High School in 1952 and joined the United States Air Force during the Korean War.  He was honorably discharged in 1956.

He married Joyce Oldfield on June 21, 1958.  Gerald was retired from PDM Bridge where he was a welder.

Gerald was a devoted Christian and enjoyed reading his bible daily.  He loved to fish with his family and he took great pride in having a manicured lawn.

He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Joyce; children: Tim (Becky) Oldfield of Florida, Pam (Brad) Kiffe of Minnesota, Cindy (John) Brace of Elk Mound and Shelly (Shawn) Oatman of Eau Claire; grandchildren:  Cari (Andy) Sarantapoulas of Texas, Kayla (Mike) Wesley of New York and Hannah and Maxwell Oatman of Eau Claire: great-grandchildren: Alexis, Lia and Andrew Sarantapoulas and Kelsey, Braeden, Ava and Kylie Wesley; sister Joann (Garnett) Boernke; and brother David (Sharon) Bischoff.  He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and his foreign exchange “son” from Japan, Atsuyoshi (Atsi) Wakumoto; sister-in-law Nancy (John) Dutter; brother in law Bruce (Susan) Oldfield.

Preceding him in death are his parents, sister Marjorie (Richard) Blodgett, brothers Charles Bischoff, Daniel (Carol) Bischoff, James Bischoff.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 12, 2024 at Peace Church, 501 E Fillmore Ave, Eau Claire with Pastor Mark Schulz and Pastor David Forke officiating.  Burial with full military honors will take place at Rest Haven Cemetery, Eau Claire at 2:15 p.m.  Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service.

The family would like to thank Dr. S. Rahman at Marshfield Clinic, St. Croix Hospice of Eau Claire and Chippewa Falls and the Neighbors of Dunn County for their superior care of Gerald during his illness.
