Gene Wisner

Gene Whitford Wisner, 97 of Spooner, WI, passed away on December 26, 2024, at the

Spooner Hospital.

Gene was born in Spooner, WI on May 26,1927.

Gene was married to Eva Marie Rice on November 24, 1948, they were married 68

years.

Gene worked many jobs in his life having left school in the eighth grade to help support

his mother and younger siblings when his father passed away following WWI.Gene was

a mechanic in Seward Alaska. After moving back to Wisconsin in 1955, he again held

many jobs, finally settling in Beloit, Wi, working at the Beloit Corporation. There he built

their home by himself. 12 years later he built another house in the country outside of

Beloit. Upon retiring from that company, he and Eva moved back to Spooner and built

his third house. They were snowbirds between there and why, Arizona until staying

permanently in Spooner.

He enjoyed collecting and restoring many antique John Deere tractors. He also enjoyed

collecting and restoring older cars and his jeeps. He always enjoyed deer hunting and

fishing whether it was in Spooner or Lake Michigan. He was never idle, he could be

found working on the house, garage or his yard. In later years he was always reading

and doing puzzles. He considered himself a true American patriot.

Gene is survived by his children: Pam (Bill) Snyder of Beloit, Wi., Michael of Ajo, Az.,

Grandson Ben (Courtney) Snyder of Green Bay. Brother-in-Law, Eugene Christensen

and many nieces and nephews.

Gene was preceded in death by his parents; Ruby Whitford Wisner and Harry Wisner,

his wife Eva, and his 8 brothers and sisters.

The family of Gene wishes to thank Gene Christensen, Ken Mehsikomer, dads many

friends and neighbors and especially the wonderful staff at the Spooner Hospital. We

are forever indebted to his many doctors, nurses and caregivers.

The Funeral Service and memorial will be held at the Northern Veterans Cemetery outside of Spooner at a future date.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family. Online condolences
