Fredrick Allan Boettcher, 84, of Rice Lake, WI, passed away April 12th 2023 with his wife holding his hand and his boots on. Fred was born on August 26th 1939 to Fred Boettcher and Helen Nelson in Milwaukee, WI. They later moved to Rice Lake and operated a farm. After graduating from Rice Lake high school in 1957, Fred joined the air force, and later worked cattle on a ranch in Montana.
After coming back home to Wisconsin Fred worked road construction as a member of the Local 49ers, out of Minnesota. Fred was well known for owning and operating the Rice Lake rodeo, The Stump Lake Stampede, for 17 years and being a founder of the 100-mile SnowShoe race from Superior to Rice Lake.
Fred was an avid outdoorsman. He was a life time member of the Blue Hills Sportsman’s Club, formally known as the Rice Lake Rod and Gun Club. Fred was always sure to share his love of the outdoors with not only his children but the children of the community, he taught hunters safety and hosted youth ice fishing tournaments. Fred also enjoyed leisurely activities such as woodworking, gardening and playing cards.
Fred was survived by his wife Judy Boettcher and five children: Tammy (Charles) Blackwell, Jesse (Nicole) Boettcher, Fred Boettcher, Eric Boettcher and Kayla Scribner; many grandchildren and two great grandchildren. He left behind siblings: Lawrence Boettcher, Beverly (Barry) Vic, Gloria Richter, LeRoy Boettcher and LynAnne (Mark) Warner; sisters-in-law: Barb Boettcher and Pam Boettcher and a brother-in-law Bill Strohmeyer.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Karen Strohmeyer, and brothers Ronald

A celebration of life will be held at Status Crow Sports Bar in Rice Lake WI on April 29th of 2023 from 1-4pm. A brief prayer service and open mic will occur at 2pm.
