Florence Hageness

Florence Hageness, age 91, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2017 at Heritage Court in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

Florence was born on April 7, 1926, in Fall Creek, Wisconsin to Gustavo Conrad and Emma (Steinke) Conrad.

Florence was married to Duane Hageness on June 15, 1946 at Saint James Church in Fall Creek, Wisconsin. They were married exactly 69 1/2 years.

Florence and Duane moved to Eleva in 1947 to take care of her mother-in-law and her four children after her father-in-law passed away. In 1952 Florence and Duane moved to Eau Claire Wisconsin. They retired at 62 and enjoying many years traveling together, camping and fishing. They also enjoyed spending time with their grandchildren and great grandchildren. Florence was a very active member of Pinehurst Evangelical Lutheran church for over 65 years.

Florence is survived by her three children; Patricia (James ) Walker, from Menomonie, Wisconsin, Karen (Dennis) Reit from Stanley, Wisconsin and June (James) Herrington from Fort Dodge, Iowa. Also 11 grandchildren; Janelle (Jeremiah) Albrecht, Julie (Brian) Malyon, Justin (Sarah) Walker, Jonathan (Kelly)Reit, Amy Irish, Paul (Marissa) Reit, Jeremiah Reit, Grant (Jenna) Herrington, Alex (Danie) Herrington, Joel Herrington, and Rachel Herrington. 14 Great grandchildren; Caleb Malyon, Alyssa Malyon, Drew Albrecht, Derek Albrecht, Seth Malyon, Avery Albrecht, Owen Walker, Norah Walker, Charlie Walker, Josie Reit, Jackson Reit, Brayden Irish, Bentley Irish and Kate Walker. She is also survived by two sister-in-law's; Margie Ann Jacobson, Judy (Steven) Stewart and one brother-in-law Garry (Sonia) Hageness.

Florence is preceded in death by her parents, five sisters and their husbands: Lenora and Walter Knute, Clara and Jule Kuhnert, Emma and Ewald Weggen, Sally and Howard Yoder, Magdalene Gehrking, and one brother Christopher Conrad and his wife Esther.

The family wishes to express gratitude to the staff of Heritage Assisted-Living and Heritage Court for their outstanding compassionate care and kindness to Florence during her stay there. Also, to Rev. Paul Sullivan for his many visits as Florence went through this very difficult time. It was a great encouragement to her every time he came!

A memorial service will be held on Sunday May 21, 2017 at Pinehurst Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Pastor Paul Sullivan officiating. Visitation will be held from 12 to 1. Service will start at 1 o'clock followed by a meal at the church.

In Lieu of flowers the family requests memorials be made to Pinehurst Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, Wisconsin or Bethany Lutheran College in Mankato, Wisconsin in honor of Florence.
