Fay Pettit was born on August 29, 1920, in Loretta, Wisconsin, to Richard and Selma (Raish) McClaine. On August 24, 1940, she married John Pettit. He died in 1991. She is survived by a daughter, Donna Wall; and a son, John Pettit (Sara); six grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; five great-great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; and many friends.
Fay graduated from cosmetology school. She started her first beauty shop in her basement at their home in Lake Wissota, and went on to own five beauty shops including Fay’s Salon, Beauty Castle, and Pamper Box, and a gift shop in Eau Claire. She and John moved to Florida and lived there for over 30 years. In Florida she got her real estate license and worked as a realtor. She also owned beauty shops and a cleaning service in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She was a true entrepreneur.
After retirement and moving back to Eau Claire, Fay volunteered for many years at Sacred Heart Hospital. While residing at The Classic at Hillcrest Greens, Fay provided manicures for other residents every Saturday for many years.
She loved playing nickel-nickel with her friends at The Classic and going out to dinner with family and friends.
Special thanks to Mary for her compassionate care during the last three years and also to Audre for helping her out so much for many years. Also, thanks to The Classic for providing an elegant and welcoming home for her last years.
