Esther Hjemboe

Esther A. Hjemboe, age 102, entered eternity with her Lord on Sunday, October 6, 2024.
She was born October 27, 1921 in Mason City, Iowa. Esther married Alf W. Hjemboe on February 4, 1945 soon after he was ordained into the Lutheran ministry. They had four children, Philip, J. Karen, Stephen, and Ann. Esther served as a volunteer secretary and Sunday School teacher in Alf’s parishes in Wisconsin, Washington and Wyoming. She was a Braille transcribing volunteer for 40 years and a Meals on Wheels volunteer for 19 years. Esther was a master weaver, an accomplished seamstress, and knitter of Norwegian sweaters.
Esther is survived by her three children, Philip, Karen (David Phillips) and Ann (Dan Wintermantel). She is further survived by her nieces and nephews. Esther was preceded in death by her husband, Alf in 2011; her son, Stephen in 2018; her parents, as well as, her three brothers and two sisters.
Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at Spirit Lutheran Church, 1310 Main St., Eau Claire, WI. with Rev.Dr. JonPaul Dragseth officiating. Interment will take place at St. Paul’s Cemetery in Strum.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Lutheran World Relief in memory of Esther.
