Emmett Wendell Pulver, age 92 of Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin passed away on January 14, 2025 at The Wisconsin Veterans Home in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.
Emmett was born on October 26, 1932 in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin to Omar and Florence (Mills) Pulver. Raised in the Catholic faith at St. Josephs in Milwaukee, he considered being a priest when he was younger.
On March 5 1951, he enlisted in the United States Army and served three years with the 35th Anti-Aircraft Detachment, where he operated static emplacements. During his service, he was sent to the Korean War and participated in the defense of South Korea, where he was awarded 3 Bronze Campaign Stars, National Defense Service Medal and the United Nations Service Medal, then was authorized for one Overseas Service Bar. On March 4, 1954 after serving three years in the Army and earning the rank of Corporal, Corporal Emmett Wendell Pulver was honorably discharged at Fort MacArthur, California. Fun Fact, Emmett had never driven a truck before, until entering the Korean War, where he drove a truck into a rice paddy. After serving in the Army, he graduated from North Division High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Emmett worked at American Motors in Milwaukee, and Conwed in Ladysmith, Wisconsin where he eventually retired. After retirement, he worked security in Florida.
He had many hobbies growing up; he was a 4-H softball coach for many years, loved to farm, raise beef and a variety of other animals. He loved reading crime novels as he said it "kept his mind sharp!" He enjoyed filling out his daily crossword puzzles, and was an avid fan of the Spaghetti Western genre film. And of course, he loved watching the Badgers, Packers and Bucks games.
Emmett is survived by his children: Brenda Haag from Weyerhaeuser, WI and Laura (Stephen) Looney from Ft. Belvoir, VA; grandchildren: Christopher (Sunju) Petersen, Dallas Looney, Erin Haag and Jordan Haag; great-grandchildren Autumn and Eli Petersen; sister Pat Brueckner; brother-in-law Phil Orme and many nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents: Omar & Florence Pulver, siblings: Gladys (Paul) Nespbor, Donald (Carolyne) Pulver, Nida (William) Johnson, Elizabeth (Russell) Otto, Richard Brueckner, ex-wife Elaine Pulver, son-in-law Craig Haag, and In-Laws Larry and Mary Ellen Carlson, Lou Ann Orme and David Orme.
