Elliott B. Light, age 71, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on August 29th, 2017, at the Veteran’s Home of Chippewa Falls, WI.
Elliott was born in Philadelphia, PA, to Louis and Betty Light. He is survived by his wife, Mary Alice (Kruger) Light, brother, Gordon, niece, Julie Light, and stepsons, Ryan and Aaron Bergh. He was the proud Grandfather of Luke, Kamry, and River Bergh, and is survived by many other loving family members.
Elliott is preceded in death by his parents and his nephew, Jeffrey Light.
Elliott served in the Army at Ft. Gordon, GA, Ft. Belvoir, VA, Mannheim, Heidelburg, Germany, and in Vietnam, where he attained the rank of Captain.
Following his military service, he worked for the State Department in Washington D.C. before moving to Eau Claire, WI in 1982 and opening his Family Law practice, which he successfully ran until 2011. With multiple degrees from Temple University, and George Washington University, his education was extensive.
Elliott was known for his giving heart, and was involved with many local and international charities. He was a lifelong learner full of curiosity, always with a book nearby. He loved learning about other cultures, traveling to forty-one countries, and probably asking forty-one questions to everyone he met.
Elliott was kind, gentle, and always demonstrated impeccable manners. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends, and was loved and respected by anyone that knew him.
Elliott Light was quite possibly the most polite man on Earth.
A graveside service will be held at 11:30 am on Sunday, September 3, 2017 at Lakeview Cemetery in Eau Claire. Following the burial there will be a luncheon at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Pkwy, Altoona from 12:30 pm until 2 pm with a visitation to follow from 2 – 4 pm at the Funeral Chapel.
