Edward Knetter
December 31, 1969 — November 6, 2023
Edward Allen Knetter, “Fast Eddie” age 74 of Augusta, WI passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023 at 6:53 p.m. with his wife Sheryl of 53 years at his side.
Ed was born on August 27, 1949 in Rhinelander, WI (Home of the Hodag’s) to Edmund and Marge (Feck) Knetter. He spent his childhood living on the Wisconsin River boating, skiing and fishing. Ed also worked at a resort on the water to which he drove to by boat.
He attended and graduated college from UWEC (The Bluegold’s). While in college he met the love of his life, Sheryl (Scott) and thought he had struck it rich because her father owned a tavern (All Scott’s Bar) and she drove a mustang! They were joined in marriage on June 6, 1970, the same year their son Jason was born. Ed used his degree from UWEC and went on to work for over 28 years at the Eau Claire Academy, working with young people to better their lives. He started in Core Staff, then became the Assistant Principal of the school and finished his career at the Academy as the Head of Human Resources. Upon leaving the Academy, he worked in Human Resources and finished his working career with Hyde Company for their many nursing facilities and hotels, including Fanny Hill Dinner Theatre.
Ed and Sheryl lived in Eau Claire until 1992 when they found their lake home just outside of Augusta on Lake Eau Claire. Ed and Sheryl had a love for the outdoors and enjoyed cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, hunting, fishing, biking, kayaking, and time on the pontoon with their surrogate grandchildren: Bret, Cash and Waylon. He was an awesome cook which he got from his mother Marge. Ed was always making meals for his family and friends. He was also a caretaker for his mother Marge, which he probably got from her also. She was always feeding her family and taking care of them, just like Ed.
He is survived by his wife Sheryl; son Jason (Megan); mother Marge Knetter (102 years young); and brothers: Dale (Norma) Knetter, Don (Sue) Knetter and Mike Knetter. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Preceding him in death are his father, Edmund; in-laws Al and Elaine Scott; his surrogate grandchildren: Bret (Bird Dog) and Cash (The Man in Black) and his Yellow Brother Waylon.
Sheryl, Jason, the Knetter and Scott families would like to thank the nursing staff on the 3
rd
floor and the physicians at Mayo Clinic Health System – Eau Claire for their care and compassion.
