Edith Lucille Doege
Edith L. Doege, 98, of Stanley, Wisconsin passed away on August 24, 2023 at Aggie’s County Living in Eagleton surrounded by her family and caring staff of Aggie’s County Living and St Croix Hospice.
Edith was born on December 23, 1924 on a farm near Kellogg, Iowa to Charles and Bertha (Nibbelink) Strovers. She and her family moved to Wisconsin in 1926 settling near Gilman, Wisconsin and later moved to Stanley, Wisconsin where she graduated from High School. Edith was the youngest of four children and witnessed many world events during her lifetime. She shared many memories of those events with friends and family. During her lifetime, Edith was involved in several family businesses, enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening and spending time with friends and family. Edith was united in marriage to Albert Huberty in September of 1945 and had three children. They divorced in 1966 and she married Arthur Doege on June 30 th , 1973.
Edith will be missed by her son, Charles (Grace) Huberty of Georgia and her daughter, Nancy (Greg) Weltzin of Chippewa Falls; her grandson, Charles II (Dark) Huberty; her granddaughters Christine (Mike) Bedard, Susan (Rosemary) Huberty, Alynia (Paul) Froelich, Mariah (Jared) Wirner; her step-grandson, Kyle Weltzin; her step-granddaughters, Shelby Weltzin and Kayla (Shawn) Flynn; her great granddaughters, Sabrina Huberty, Rheya Wirner, Everly Wirner, and Charlotte Froelich; her great grandson, Caleb Froelich; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant brother, Russell Strovers; her brother, Leo Strovers; her sister, Esther Smitke; her son, Gerald Huberty; and her husband, Arthur Doege.
Memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at the United Methodist Church in Stanley, Wisconsin. Visitation will take place at the church from 10:00 am until the time of the service. Inurnment will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Stanley.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests a donation to the Stanley Historical Society.
