Donna Rae Wilson, 76, of Minong, WI., passed away Tuesday, October 1, 2024, after an extremely short diagnosis of CNS Lymphoma.
She was born on November 27, 1947, to William and Eileen (Breuer) Kerkvliet. Donna graduated from St. Mary's High School followed by attending Mankato Business School. Her professional life includes positions at John Morell and Co. in Sioux Falls, SD., Dain, Kalman, and Quail Co. in Minneapolis, MN., and the University of Minnesota where she met John Wilson. December 21 st , 1974, she married John and lived in Coon Rapids, MN until 1980. Shortly after the birth of their son Matthew, the family relocated to Minong, WI.
Upon relocation, she worked for Hayward Family Dentistry in Hayward, WI, and Black Bear Golf Course in Minong, WI. She and John proudly owned Wilson's Buck and Wing in Minong from 1988 till 1995. After the sale of the bar, Donna and John spent time traveling and enjoying life until his passing in 2002.
The next chapter would bring her “Special Person” Larry Christman and his beloved extended family into her life. She obtained a bonus family and additional Grand / Great grandchildren that she embraced as her own. The 22 years spent together were filled with love, laughter, and great companionship.
She enjoyed golfing, playing Mahjong, UTV riding, traveling, and cheering for the Minnesota Vikings – SKOL! As a long-time member of Calvary Lutheran Church in Minong, Donna's faith played a significant role in her life. She was known for her kindness, intelligence, and supportive nature, always ready to light up a room with her laughter and sense of humor.
Survived by her son, Matt Wilson (BJ), and Granddaughters, Alex, Jazmyn, and Zoey. Special person, Larry Christman of 22 years. Beloved Stepdaughters Michelle Slice, Juli Lighten, JoAnn Sauter (Todd), and Grandchildren Lydia and Wyatt Sauter. Siblings Dale Kerkvliet (Ann), Dick Kerkvliet, Deb Jacobsma (Jake), Denise Wasko (Jim), Ann Parkinson (Don), and Lynn (Ed) Bartscher along with many nieces and nephews.
Donna was preceded in death by her husband, John Wilson, her parents, Bill and Eileen Kerkvliet, her brother, David Kerkvliet, and her sister-in-law, Ann Kerkvliet.
Funeral service at Calvary Lutheran Church, Minong, WI, Saturday, October 12th, 10 AM Visitation, 11 AM Service, Pr. Kevin Kaiser officiating. Followed by a Celebration of Life at the K-I Club W6095 Hwy 77 Minong, WI. A private committal service will be held at Northern Wisconsin Veterans Cemetery in Spooner, WI.
