With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Donna Jean Schmaltz, 65. She passed peacefully with her daughter by her side.
Donna was a vibrant soul who filled every moment with love, laughter, and beauty.
Born on December 26, 1958, in Chippewa Falls, she was raised by her beloved grandmother, Ecco Clark. In 1977, she graduated from Chippewa Falls High School. She spent many years providing excellent customer service at Taco John’s on Water Street in Eau Claire.
Donna is survived by her partner of 35 years, Franklin Higgins; her children, Amber (Brett) Myers of Eau Claire, Steven (Diana) Schmaltz of Baraboo, Marley Higgins, and Kaela Higgins of Eau Claire; her grandchildren, Maci, Jonas, Ecco, Landon, Riley, and Greyson; and her siblings, Barbara (Scott) Armstrong of Chippewa Falls and Scott (Shelly) Retzlaff of Chippewa Falls.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her grandmother Ecco Clark, her sister Jean Neira, and her dear friend Todd Amundson.
Donna had a true love for music, but her greatest love was her partner, her children, and her grandchildren, whom she adored with every fiber of her being.
Donna's nurturing spirit extended far beyond her family. She had a special place in her heart for animals, creatures great and small. In quieter moments, Donna found solace in reading novels, coloring, watching Days of Our Lives, Hallmark Christmas movies, and listening to the radio.
Donna knew how to have a good time. She enjoyed dancing to music that filled her soul. Her love for MGD was only matched by her love for the friends she shared it with.
