Dolores Krahn

November 21, 1928 — January 1, 2024

Dolores Rose Krahn (Dee), formerly of Elmhurst, Illinois died peacefully on January 1, 2024, at the age of 95 in Stevens Point, Wisconsin. Born November 21, 1928, to the late James J. Kimmey and Margaret Christine (Vogt) Kimmey.

Dee grew up with her brother Robert in Chicago, Illinois and attended St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran grammar school and graduated from Parker High School in 1947. She was elected President of the Girls’ Glee Club in high school to which she belonged to for 3 years. She attended MacCormac School of Commerce. Dee was employed as a secretary for New Hampshire Fire Insurance Company.

She married Raymond C. Krahn on June 19, 1948. They had 3 daughters, Caryn, Janice, Susan, and a son, Paul. She was a stay-at-home mother when her children were young. Later in life, she worked at the Elmhurst Clinic in accounting.

Dee was an excellent cook, enjoyed reading, and visiting with friends. She loved her dogs, Twiggy, Indy, and Molly. After she and her husband retired, they spent their summer and fall months at their lake cabin in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. There, she enjoyed fishing, going for walks, viewing the wildlife, wildflowers, and visiting with neighbors.

She belonged to St. Peters Evangelical Lutheran Church in Chicago, Redeemer Lutheran Church in Elmhurst, and was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Stevens Point.

She is survived by her children Caryn Krahn-Burke (Tom), Janice Hanby (Joseph), Susan Arey (David) and Paul Krahn (Kimberly); grandchildren, Brian (Josephine) Arey and Nathan (Samantha) Arey, Devon and Raianna Krahn-Burke, and Kelsey and Kylie Krahn; great grandchildren Torrey & Tanith Arey; brother in-law Robert "Dutch" Krahn; as well as nieces and nephew, Linda, Laura, and David.

She was proceeded in death by an infant daughter, her husband of 66 years, Raymond, her parents, one brother, Robert, and sister-in-law, Jean Krahn.

A private ceremony will be held with the family at a date yet to be determined.
