David Young

October 13, 1952 — June 6, 2022

David Paul Young, age 69, of New Brighton, Beaver County, PA, passed away peacefully on June 6, 2022, at his vacation home in Hixton, Jackson County, WI. Born October 13, 1952, in New Brighton, PA he was the son of the late Russell F. Young Sr. and Anna U. (Waddingham) Young. Surviving him are his wife of 46 years, Joann R. (Langsdale) Young and his daughters: Colleen E. Young, Marie S. Young, and Aubrey A. Young, all of Beaver County, PA; and his brother, Russell F. (Nancy) Young, of Neillsville, Clark County, Wisconsin.

Relaxation for Dave was hunting, both locally and in the West; trap shooting – he broke 100 at the Grand American in Vandalia, OH; and pleasure boating, both near and far. He was involved in many local organizations and a lifetime member of several. Most notably he was a lifetime member of North Side Sportsman Association (NSSA) and served on the board directors for many years, including time as president. During his time with NSSA he created their extremely successful Gun Bash and Lenten Fish Fries, taking the club from nearly destitute to a well-funded organization and paying off the mortgage years ahead of schedule. The Gun Bashes, Fish Fries, and later NSSA Family Picnics, created great memories for everyone.

Dave was a man with many talents. He was the owner of Dave Young’s Diesel and Automotive, at one time the largest AAA towing company in Beaver County, with his classic red and white tow trucks. He towed cars, tractor trailers, and buses. Dave was a trucker, towboat engineer, large equipment operator, landscaper, and more.

Dave quietly helped many people along life’s path with things from financial hardships, drug problems, and developing job skills to name a few. In later years scenic drives, spotting wildlife, and watching Gunsmoke were his favorite forms of entertainment.

Dave will be sorely missed by his family, friends, and his many pets: horses, dogs, and cats.

A Celebration of Life will be held in both Wisconsin and Pennsylvania later this summer. The family will hold a private memorial service.

Throughout his life Dave had a strong work ethic, and as a lifelong tradesman he recognized the need and value for youth to enter skilled trades such as welding, diesel/heavy equipment mechanics, bricklaying, etc. The Mike Rowe Works Foundation is a trade school scholarship fund that emphasizes the importance of four pillars that Dave held dear— work ethic, personal responsibility, delayed gratification, and a positive attitude.
