David Odell
August 12, 1951 — January 20, 2024
David “Digger” Odell, 72, of Eau Claire, WI passed away peacefully on Jan. 20, 2024.
David Worked at Uniroyal for 25 years until it finally closed down. He then attended CVTC and received Associate Degree in their Wood Technics course. He then went to work for API for many years finally retiring in 2018.
David had many hobbies from wood carving, home remodeling, cooking, baking, coin collecting, fishing and traveling. His love of the outdoors got him into searching for arrowheads which led him to join the Badger State Archaeological Society of WI. He won many awards over the years for his collection of Indian artifacts.
David loved traveling and Jamaica was his favorite. He loved nothing more than baking in the sun and searching for sea shells in the ocean.
His time in the kitchen gave him the opportunity to master some of the best recipes. Barbeques were his specialty!
His family was most important to him. He was the caregiver thru and thru even to the end. He had planned his celebration of life so that everyone would be able to gather and reminisce with laughter and enjoy a “barbeque”!
He is survived by his wife, Penny of 52 years, his daughter Alyssa, Eau Claire and son Trevor, Mpls MN, his sister, Diane (Sonny) Davidson, Strum and brother Danny Odell, Strum and Aunt Marge Tollefson, Eleva. He is also survived by many nieces, nephew, and cousins.
He is proceeded in death by his mother and dad Vic & LaDonna Odell, brothers Donald and Dale Odell.
He will be missed by many. His celebration of life will be Saturday, Jan. 27, from 1:00 – 4:00 at the Cremation Society of WI, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. David’s wish was to have one last “picnic” filled with good food, fun and laughter. He did want a parade but we said no!!
