David Johnson

David H. Johnson, age 82, of Eleva, WI passed away Tuesday, August 1 at the American Lutheran Home in Mondovi, WI.

He was born on July 5, 1941 in Eau Claire, Wisconsin to Harold and Irene Johnson.  He grew up in the Drammen Township attending the little Oak Grove School and graduated from Mondovi High School in 1959.  He went on to serve in the U.S. Army as an MP in El Paso for two years.  He married his wife Linda Lee of Mondovi on 12/29/67. Dave went on to work at Presto in Kenosha, WI and then for Uniroyal in Eau Claire, WI for 24 years.  He finished out his career at Cardinal Glass in Menomonie, WI following the closure of the Uniroyal factory.

Dave was a lifelong sportsman.  He went on trips to the western U.S. to hunt and never missed a whitetail deer season in Wisconsin, be it near home or at Mother’s HFWG near Brule where he bagged the #1 typical buck of the year in Wisconsin.  He would find time to go fishing throughout any summer or winter, spending time on Upper Eau Claire Lake in Barnes over the course of many years.  He was also extremely handy with a variety of things, building things with his hands and know-how.  There was seldom a project he could not figure out.  He was also a family man, spending as much time as possible with his two daughters and son, teaching them how to do the things he enjoyed and supporting them in what they aimed to do in life.

Dave is survived by his wife, Linda; three children, Patricia (Greg) Chambers of Eleva, Signe (Tim) Johnson, Kirk Johnson; four grandchildren, Justine Johnson, Taylor Johnson, Hannah Chambers, Elayna Chambers; six siblings, Yvonne (Ron) Nixdorf, Ardis (Haakon) Olson, John (Lois) Johnson, Soni (Chuck) Scharf, Mike Johnson of Mondovi, Jone (Warren) Miller; he is also survived by many cousins, nephews and nieces, grand-nephews and nieces, and many lifelong friends.  He is preceded in death by his sister Karen (Dick) Fremstad and his brother Peter Johnson.

Service will be held on Sunday, August 6, 2023 at Drammen Lutheran Church at 1:00 p.m. Visitation will be held at 12:30pm at the church. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to Drammen Lutheran Church, S12275 County Rd B, Mondovi, Wisconsin 54755.
