David Ganther

April 17, 1953 — December 30, 2023

David A. Ganther age 70 of Eau Claire, chose to embark on a serene journey on Saturday, December 30, 2023, departing from the chaos of this world rather than endure another tumultuous year of politics. While his departure surprised those close to him, his family suspects it was hastened by an unfortunate $5.00 increase in his grocery bill last month—an issue that occupied many of his recent conversations.

Dave was a native of Eau Claire, Wisconsin, born and raised to Richard & Wanda (Misselt) Ganther. He graduated from North High School and ventured through nearly all but 3 US states during his extensive career as a long-haul trucker. Eventually, he settled a stone's throw away from his childhood home. Dave explored various professions, from furniture delivery to real estate and manufacturing, before retiring in 2020 from TTM Technologies. This allowed him to dedicate his time to online gaming, enjoying music in the park, and indulging in winery tours with friends.

He is survived by his son Matthew Frankewicz (with Amanda), daughter Amanda O’Leary (with Tom), sisters Sharon Bungartz and Susan Ganther, nieces Marie Johnson and Shelly Raether, and nephews Trevyn Paige, Justin Ganther, and Richard Ganther. Alongside loved ones, he inexplicably leaves behind random stashes of bread bags and plastic clips.

Dave's peaceful afterlife might be disrupted by unresolved political debates with those who preceded him in death, including his parents Richard and Wanda Ganther, and brother Kim Ganther. With hope, it will also include solace in the affection of the pets and grand-pets he cherished in life, and perhaps even rediscover his long-lost hair.

While services will be intimate, the family welcomes shared memories and tributes on Dave’s Facebook page from extended family and friends. As a final request, his daughter hopes to learn the name of the coveted white elephant gift wine he supposedly enjoyed, preferring communication through dreams rather than direct haunting.

Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family.  Online condolences may be shared at www.cremationsociety-wi.com .
