David Eugene Baldwin passed away peacefully at the Wisconsin Veteran’s Home in Chippewa Falls on May 22, 2021. He was born on January 27, 1952 at Sacred Heart Hospital to Clarence H. Baldwin Sr. and Vera (Keifert) Baldwin. He graduated in 1971 from Osseo-Fairchild High School, Osseo, Wisconsin.
During the Vietnam War, David served in the United States Army, 3rd Armored Division, (Spearhead). He also was a mechanic who worked on military trucks and tanks. He later enlisted in the United States Navy. He was a Fireman and shot artillery, aboard the USS Reasoner FF-1063. He was honorably discharged from both branches of service. David was a Lifetime Member of the American Legion Post 324, in Osseo, Wisconsin. He loved the United States flag, the Constitution of the United States and Eagles. David worked until he became his Father and Step-Mother’s caretaker. He was a top scoring bowler, belonged to different organizations, gave back to the community, and a Team Member of the Strand Enterprises Snowmobile Ice Drag Racing Team where he enjoyed parades and events. He helped others whenever he could. He enjoyed his daily coffee at the Oakwood Mall and loved to visit with “His Girls” at the coffee shop…Everyone knew him…he enjoyed traveling, sports…especially the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers, tye-dye shirts, classic rock n’ roll music, going to concerts, dancing, games, puzzles, and just having fun. His smile was contagious, loved to talk with people and tell his stories, a happy go lucky guy, and was a kind and gentle soul.
He was proceeded in death by his Father, Clarence H. Baldwin Sr.; Step-Mother, Emma Baldwin; Mother, Vera (Keifert) Borgwardt, Step-Father, Vilas Borgwardt; Two Brothers Steven T. Baldwin and Clarence H. Baldwin Jr.; brother-in-law, Jerry Jenks (Betty), and one great-niece, Victoria Schnaack.
He leaves behind two sisters: Betty (Baldwin) Jenks and Donna (Maug) Davidson and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great nieces and great-great nephews.
There will be a “Celebration of Life” held on Saturday, August 28th, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. at Cabin in the Pines (13519 Park Ave, Osseo, WI).
