Christopher Rosenau
December 6, 1977 — May 27, 2024
It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my son, Chris Rosenau of Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Chris passed away unexpectedly on Memorial Day at the age of 46. He was born on December 6, 1977.
Chris had a brilliant and creative mind that was appreciated by everyone who knew him. During his years at TDKH/Hutchinson Technology, Chris was recognized for his ability to solve problems, promote teamwork, and provide steady leadership. The combination of a kind and welcome heart with professional excellence and determination made Chris an ideal employee. Chris loved the technical ingenuity required and the challenge of his work, as well as the community of friends he made while at TDK.
Chris used his ingenuity for his own projects as well. He would light up when talking about a new idea, applying his talents to solve problems that included modifying his snowmobile to carry totes with a lightweight carriage that could carry everything. Chris didn’t do anything small, and everything he did, he did well. He was especially proud of his “catio” or cat-patio, a clever addition to the window of his house that allowed his two beloved kitties, Enzo and Moby, access outside while remaining safely inside the addition.
Chris had diverse interests and a close-knit community of friends who shared his love of fishing, golf, video gaming, and outdoor recreation. Annual fishing trips were an important opportunity to connect with those friends and family members while pursuing his passion for fishing and the outdoors.
Chris enjoyed an especially close relationship with his father, Bruce, and stepmother, Mary. He coached them in golf and sent them daily videos to improve their technique, introduced them to new friends, joined them regularly for cards, and worked with them as he built his innovations. Already Bruce and Mary miss his bear hugs and huge smile that lit up their lives.
Chris is proceeded in death by his mother Linda Bobo, and grandparents with whom he was very close. He is survived by his father and stepmother; Aunties Becky, Marcia, and Denna; Uncle Larry; many cousins; and his two kitties, Moby and Enzo.
If you would like to honor Chris’s memory, a donation can be made to the Eau Claire County Humane Association or a charity of your choice. A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
The Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at
