Charles Bergh

Charles Henry Bergh, age 92 of Long Lake, Sarona WI passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 26, 2024, at 2:30 p.m. at Woodstone Senior Living in Rice Lake WI. He was born in Brandon MN on March 7, 1932 to Henry and Elvira Bergh.

He married Janet Neprud of Minneapolis on October 9, 1954. Janet Bergh, his wife of 65 years, preceded him in death on March 21, 2019.

He is survived by his two sons; David (Maureen) Bergh, Donald (Veronica Belsuzarri) Bergh and four grandchildren; Brendan Bergh, Cullen (Sarah) Bergh, August Bergh and Olivia Bergh.

He is survived by two sisters; Helen Palmer and Marie (Hans) Sandbo.

Charles was preceded in death by his sister; Kathlyn (Dick) Mohagen and brother-in-law; Stan Palmer.

Upon returning from the Korean War, Charles married Janet at Bethlehem Lutheran church in Minneapolis MN. They were high school sweethearts and were together for over 70 years. Janet and Charles moved to Long Lake (Sarona WI) from Minneapolis in 1979 where they turned their family cabin on Long Lake (built by Janet's great uncle in 1906) into their year-round home. Charles worked as an insurance adjuster for the General Adjustment Bureau since 1962, working out of offices in Duluth, St. Paul, and finally Rice Lake, where he retired at 62.

Charlie was an avid golfer and member of Butternut Hills Golf Club. He was an excellent tennis and table tennis player, winning many a trophy. He kept close to many of his high school friends right up 'til the end. He loved playing and watching sports; golf, tennis, basketball, football. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cribbage and bridge. Charlie will surely be missed by his many close and loving family members and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on Long Lake in the coming summer. Details will be forthcoming.
