Carol Hass

Carol Theresa Hass passed away on Thursday, August 3, at Chippewa Manor, Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin.



Carol was born on the family farm, in Arcadia, Wisconsin, on October 7, 1930, to Leo Joseph and Esther Helen (Rotering) Haines. Her best memories were of growing up on the farm, and she shared many stories with us. After graduating High School, she moved to Eau Claire, Wisconsin. Her first job was at Cramer Cleaners where she met her future husband, LaVern.



She was also employed at Graphic Printing Company for many years. She and LaVerne truly enjoyed being together. After retirement, they enjoyed traveling together and spent winters in Florida and summers on Prairie Lake in Chetek. After LaVerne passed away in 2002, she moved back to Eau Claire and spent her time with her children and grandchildren. She was an avid reader, enjoyed playing cards with her children, and especially her great grandchildren, and going to Black River Falls with her friend Marie.



She is survived by her daughters Suzanne Burt of Eagan, MN, Patricia (James) Anderson of Bloomer WI, Gail (Randy) Fenner of Eau Claire WI, brother-in-law James Hass, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren and her very dear friend Marie Foss. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, LaVerne, two brothers Leo and Milton Haines, and three sisters Elizabeth Murphy Mundschau, Ruth Kenefick and Laurel Sobotta.



Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 22, 2023 with visitation starting at 10:30 and the service at 11:00 a.m. at Stokes, Prock and Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona, WI.



A private burial service will be held at a later date at Forest Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers or memorials, the family requests donations to her favorite charity, Sojourner House of Eau Claire. Sojourner House assists men and women experiencing homelessness.
