Brad Schubring
March 14, 1962 — August 31, 2024
Brad Schubring died on 8/31/2024. Yes, it really happened. Despite him seemingly having nine lives. Brad was known to share many entertaining stories, even if it wasn’t the whole truth. FYI There WAS a reason that his initials are BS. Friends of his claimed that Brad had a bad case of Lie-a-beties due to his tall tales that would crack a grin on the faces of anyone in ear-shot.
Brad was born in Ramstein, Germany 3/14/1962 to Carol and Maynard Schubring (Brad was immensely proud of this German heritage). At the age of 3 they moved back to Wausau, Wisconsin where he grew up. He was an Eagle Scout in the Boy Scouts of America. He was confirmed in the American Lutheran church. He graduated from Wausau West High School in 1980. From there he went to several colleges in search for the perfect party.
Brad had “the gift of gab” with charisma. He could talk to anyone, which made him great in sales and bartending.
Brad worked at many places. He owned and operated a golf course in Mondovi, WI. He worked in restaurant management and sales at RJ Reynolds and WEAU TV 13.
He loved life on his terms
.
He loved to be with his family. His kids and granddaughter were very precious to him. He, “Pow Pow”, also loved being with aunts, uncles and cousins. Since he was an only child, he loved his friends. Some friends were seen in his eyes as brothers.
Our cabin in Spooner WI was his sanctuary. He would watch the lake move for hours. There he fished boated, rode jet skis and ATVs. He had fun with new friends at the local bar.
He loved:
Football -The Dallas Cowboys (He supported the Green Bay Packers as long as they were not playing the Cowboys) and the Wisconsin Badgers.
Grilling Dinners
Dean Martin and Classic Rock
Brandy Old Fashions with Olives
His family pets (dogs and eventually his cats)
Watching movie marathons with a good friend
He will be missed by his lovely wife Anita of 37 yrs. of marriage, his son Trenton (Rachel Schubring) his granddaughter Greta, daughters Katelin (Owen Friesen) and Madeline (Justin) Freitag. Many family members and friends. And not be missed by all the golf opponents that he bested on the course.
Next time you have a drink remember to toast Brad. He would like that gesture.
A private celebration of life will be held with close family and friends.
Cremation Society of Wisconsin, Altoona is assisting the family. Online condolences may be shared at
