Borghild Deloris (Hilson) Morley age 93 passed away, surrounded by her family on May 31, 2017.
Borg was born in Colfax, WI on October 17, 1923, the daughter of Nora and Carl Hilson.
Borg graduated from Menomonie High School in 1941.
Borg married the love of her life Raymond Morley on March 27, 1948 in the Little Elk Creek Church, Menomonie, WI. They enjoyed 67 years of fun, travels, and adventures all over the United States and Europe. They made many long lasting friendships wherever they lived and vacationed.
Borg had an adventurous spirit and quick wit. When she was 20 years old Borg and her best friend traveled by train to San Diego and worked as “Rosie the Riveter” in the airplane factories. She loved San Diego and only returned to Eau Claire because her father Carl begged her to come home.
Borg worked at Wisconsin Bell Telephone Company after the kids went to elementary school and to the end remembered phone numbers of nearly everyone.
Borg loved to sew. She sewed clothing for many years including Jackie’s wedding dress and all the bridesmaids’ dresses. She also enjoyed working in her yard, on her lawn, her flowers and watched her bird feeders regularly.
Borg was committed to staying fit. She walked daily and hired a personal trainer at the YMCA to work with her. She waterskied for the last time at age 72 and if the weather was bad she would roller skate in the basement of their home.
Family was most important in her life and even near the end she was giving her son, Neil love of family advice. Borg was always ready to plan a “Christmas Tea, reunion, picnic, or some kind of family get-together. Attendance was expected by all but she understood other “commitments”. Weekends for the Morley’s were spent on the water with friends and family cruising with a ski boat or pontoon.
Borg loved sports. She watched the Brewers, the Badgers and the Packers whenever she could. She seldom missed traveling and watching her grandson Jason play high school and college sports as well as her grandson Cody perform for the Ski Sprits Shows.
Borg’s faith was always the center of her life. She was a member of Rebecca Circle at Saving Grace Lutheran Church. She volunteered at many church functions.
Borg loved to travel and was the driving force behind their several trips to Europe and throughout the United States.
Borg will be sadly missed by her daughter Jackie (Jerry) Joanis of Trempealeau, WI, her son Neil (Sandra) Morley of Chippewa Falls, WI, her grandson Jason (Erin) Joanis of Fitchburg, WI and their children Callum, Sullivan and Finley, her granddaughter Jenn (Ken) Short of Chippewa Falls, WI and their children Dillon, Damien, Hannah, and Madylin, her granddaughter Jess Rubenzer (Kip) and their son Mason and great grandson Monty Drenttel. Borg will also be missed by many nieces and nephews, other relatives and dear friends.
Borghild was preceded in death by her husband Raymond Morley, parents Carl and Nora Hilson, her brother Sylvester (Lillian) Hilson, and sisters Gilma (Lawrence) Wieman, Eleanor (Arlan) Larson, June (Raymond) Schilling and Carol (Douglas) Olson, her grandsons Cody Steinmetz and Baby Boy Joanis.
The family wishes to thank Patty and her staff at Oak Gardens Assisted Living, Pastor Dave Irgens and niece Cindy Fleming for their compassionate care and support.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers memorials be given in Borgs name to Saving Grace Lutheran Church or Ski Sprites Shows.
Services will be held at Saving Grace Lutheran Church (Eastridge Center) at 11:00 am with visitation starting at 9:30 am on Monday June 5, 2017. Interment at Forest Hill Cemetery will follow the service with a luncheon in Fellowship Hall.
