Bill Tafel, age 73, formerly of Eau Claire, passed away on Wednesday, July 21, 2021 at his home surrounded by his family. He was born on April 2, 1948 in Eau Claire to Roy and Effie Tafel and married Linda Bartholomew on January 20, 1968 in Eau Claire. He worked at Uniroyal for many years and in his younger years he enjoyed bowling, golfing, woodworking, playing cards, hunting and fishing. Bill had a very competitive spirit and was good at everything he tried, never backing down from a challenge.
This carried through to his later years when he surrendered his life to Jesus and became a “soul winner”. Bill and his wife Linda made it their mission to spread the gospel message to everyone who would listen especially the residents of Mount Washington and Grace Barstow apartments. He was an inspiration and guiding light to many and brought many to the Lord.
Besides his family and Jesus his other great love were the people of Cornerstone Apostolic Church in Elk Mound. They were all so very important to him and he spoke of them with such love and admiration.
Survivors include his wife Linda; son Sam (Jody); daughter Sue (Mickey) Cummings; grandchildren: Courtney (Hank), William, Caitlyn, Amber, Autumn, Elijah, Brooke, Melissa and Kristina; and sisters: Kay Garnett, Diana (David) Hanson and Effie (Steve) Heuer. He is further survived by many family and friends.
Preceding him in death are his son James, parents Roy and Effie, brothers: Ronald, Donald and Roy, and sisters: Gloria, Marlene, Janet and Vicki.
A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 25, 2021 at the Cornerstone Apostolic Church, 110 Independence Dr., Elk Mound with Pastor Roy Clickner officiating. Visitation will be held from 12:00 (noon) until time of service.
