Betty Grosvold
November 17, 1932 — November 9, 2023
Betty Jean Grosvold (Mai), passed away peacefully in her sleep on November 9, 2023 at the age of 90 at her home. She was only eight days from her 91
st
birthday.
Betty was born to the late Ervin and Hilda Mai. She grew up in Eau Claire with her beloved brother Jerry. She graduated from the Eau Claire Senior High School in 1950! Betty loved to talk to everybody, and got the gift to gab from her father Erv!
Betty married Victor DeMoe to raise four children, later divorcing. She worked at Eau Claire School System for many years, retiring with many long-term friendships with both co-workers and students. She later volunteered at the Bethesda Thrift Store with great friend Merle Gardow. They both could do a mean chicken scratch dance at weddings and parties!
Betty married Victor Grosvold in 1984. They had a cottage at Lake Holcombe and enjoyed many pontoon rides with family and friends. They traveled to Europe, and enjoyed many fun bus trips in the states. She was a member of the Good Shepard Church, with strength and love of her faith. Betty loved spending time with her family and friends. She always s wanted to know what was going on with everyone, giving her chance to “get her light out”, while she chatted with you. She had a love of all sports – the Packers, Brewers, Badgers and Nascar races. She also attended many family sporting events. She also had a great passion for sweets, especially chocolates! Coining the phrase “Have an apple or an orange”. She loved to listen to a variety of music and enjoyed the ladies in her card club.
We will remember all of the conversations around the dining room table over the years. We will hear her voice in our hearts forever.
The family would like to thank Bonnie and Aspen for all their help and friendship. It meant a great deal to Betty. She will be missed by many and was blessed to have so many people share in her life, creating a lifetime of memories. To all of Betty’s family and friends “REMEMBER, WHO’S YOUR BETTY”.
Betty is survived by her sons: Steve (Teresa) DeMoe, Mark (Sharon) DeMoe and Craig (Cindy) DeMoe; daughter Vicki (late Jim) Mendoza; stepchildren: Michael (Jane) Grosvold, Janet (Dave) Oliver, Jeff Grosvold and Mary (Chuck) Hommen; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren whom she loved and adored.
A private memorial service will be held.
