Bernard Weissinger

Bernard (Bernie) John Weissinger, age 87 of Durand passed away peacefully at his home Sunday, January 19, 2025.

Bernie was born December 31, 1937 to Frank and Stella (Boehm) Weissinger. Bernie married MaryAnn Severson December 2, 1983 and together had two children John and Jenna. He was extremely proud of them.

Bernie worked at Weiser concrete in Maiden Rock for over 30 years, a business that treated him more like family than an employee. After retirement, Bernie went and worked for Durand Sanitation and then at his favorite place the Corral. He also loved helping out at Round Hill.

Bernie is survived by his wife of 41 years MaryAnn; children John Weissinger of Durand and Jenna (James) Reitz of Plum City, three grandchildren he adored, Brody, Brelynn and Bristol; sister Marie Hayden of Elk Mound; sister-in-law Kathy Ridgeway of Eau Claire; brothers-in-law Steve of Lake City and Tim of Eau Claire and many other nieces, nephews, relatives and countless friends.

Bernie was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Lorraine (Rupert) Wolf and Arlene (Ed) Klein; brothers Frank (Diane), brother-in-law Frank Hayden and nephews Jared Severson, Randy and Bruce Weissinger.

Bernie was a gentle man, he loved gardening, fishing, hunting, woodworking and helping people. He will be deeply missed by all.

The family extends their heartfelt thank to the caring staff at Advent Health in Durand and Interim Healthcare.

A celebration of Bernie's life will be held at 1 P.M. until 4 P.M. on Saturday, January 25 at the Orton Room, 318 West Main St. Durand.
