Barbara Dommer
February 14, 1964 — July 5, 2024
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Barbara Louise Dommer, who passed away on July 5, 2024 at the age of 60 due to ovarian cancer.
Barb was born on February 14, 1964 in Chippewa Falls, WI. to Delbert and Ellen Houts. She grew up on Lake Wissota alongside her siblings, a place that inspired her to always live near the water. She would accomplish this by making her home on the Chippewa River in Eau Claire, WI. with her husband of 37 years, Les Dommer. She attended Chippewa Falls High School and Chippewa Valley Technical College where she earned an associate degree in business.
Barb was a loving sister and friend, always willing to lend a helping hand and a listening ear. Her warm personality, infectious smile, and generous heart made her an instant favorite among many who knew her. She had a passion for photography, gardening, baking and crafting, all of which she excelled at. She was never happier than when she was jet skiing or camping, both of which she delighted in sharing with family and friends. All of her nieces and nephews were her pride and joy. It would be hard to find a more ardent champion or cheerleader.
Despite facing many challenges in her life, Barb remained resilient and persevered through it all. She was a fighter till the end.
Barb is survived by her husband Les Dommer, her siblings Linda (Butch Radkey) Houts, Deb Houts, Diane Hines, Ellen (Doug) Bergstrom, brother-in-law Don (Carla) Dommer, sister-in-law Petie Marten, father-in-law Leroy Dommer, her nieces and nephews Sean (Mel) Daley, Patrick Daley, Rachael (Erik) Holmes, Denise (James Mahony) Radkey, Dan Radkey, Heather (Mike) Kersten, Emma (Gwyllian) Bergstrom and Erin (Dominique) Shury, Nick (Kayann) Dommer, Stacy (Jeff) Diedrich, Tom Dommer, Travis (Kim) Dommer, Ted (Kelly) Dommer, great nephews and nieces Freddie and Daphne Holmes, Abby and Blake Hines, Kylie and Brooklyn Shury, Brady and Kinsley Kalepp, Carleigh and Vanessa Diedrich, Dallas, Levi, Viola, and Nolt Dommer, Gavin and Lucy Dommer, Charlie and Korbin. And let’s not forget Daisy, her faithful canine friend.
Barb was preceded in death by her parents Delbert and Ellen Houts, brothers Robert (Bobby) and Paul, brothers-in-law Leon Dommer and Mark Hines, mother-in-law Kathryn Dommer and her beloved dogs Sheba and Stella.
There will be a private family burial and a celebration of her life in July 2025. We will miss her forever, but take comfort in the fact that she is now free from pain and suffering. She definitely made a mark on our lives that cannot be erased.
