Arlie Dean Olson, age 89 of Chetek, passed away at home on Sunday, February 27, 2022 with his family by his side. He was born on October 11, 1932, the younger of twin boys to Morris and Mable Olson.
Arlie attended the Oak Grove School and graduated from Chetek High School in 1951. He was active in FFA, including playing on the basketball, football and baseball teams while in high school. In April of his senior year, Arlie enlisted in the United States Air Force. On February 21, 1953, he married JoAnne Howard.
Arlie was a member of the Chetek American Legion Post 179 for over 50 years. He had jobs hauling milk, farming, pump installation and plumbing. His hobbies included deer hunting, ice fishing, playing pool and cards (especially cribbage), bowling and playing softball.
Arlie enjoyed spending time at the cabin in the Town of Barnes and wintering in CA and AZ for many years.
He is survived by his wife JoAnne, children: Barry (Terri), Julie (Larry) Miller, Jodie (Corey) Beuthling, Dean (Kim) and Tim (AnneMarie); 10 grandsons; 1 step-grandson; 4 granddaughters; 6 great-grandsons; 3 step great-grandsons; and 13 great-granddaughters.
Preceding him in death are his parents, siblings: Raymond, Ruth Rozak, Merlyn, Gordon and Arden; and a grandson Christopher.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, March 12, 2022 at the Chetek Lutheran Church, 1419 Second Street, Chetek with Pastor Guy Redfield officiating. Visitation will be held 1 hr prior. Burial will take place at a later date in the Lakeview Cemetery, Chetek.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the Chetek Lutheran Church Choir or to the charity of one’s choice.
