Ann Marie (Stocks) Gobler passed away Friday December 1, 2023. She was born January 25, 1958 to Gale (Barby) and Clayton “Bud” Stocks in Eau Claire. She grew up in Eau Claire and Ventura, California and had fond memories of her time with family in both cities. She graduated from Memorial High School in 1976, where she was a member of the water ballet and swim teams. She later received a degree from CVTC.
Annie gave birth to her first child, Jesse Clayton Morley, November 22, 1982. She cherished becoming a mother and her favorite stories always included her children.
She met her husband Michael while out with friends. He remembers “a beautiful girl at the end of the bar motioning for him to come over to chat, then they went out dancing and the rest is history.” They married on April 22, 1989 at Sacred Heart Chapel surrounded by friends and family. She sewed her wedding, bridesmaid, and flower girl dresses for the big day. Shortly after their wedding, Annie and Mike had two daughters, Samantha Ann and Carlee Jo. She was proud Carlee was a spitting image of the Barby family and learned to tolerate three sources of the Gobler sense of humor. The family’s shared love of music provides countless memories and a special bond. Nearly every month they’d replay a recorded concert tape (the Eagles tour was a favorite) and stay up late dancing around the living room.
She enjoyed adventures and any opportunity to spend time with family. Her special bond with her mother was fulfilling and kept her busy. Between puzzles, craft projects, berry picking, and shopping trips, the dynamic duo was always up to something. She recently learned how to send text messages, so she kept everyone updated on their shenanigans through long messages filled with emojis and photos. She looked forward to her daily phone calls with Carlee, visits with Jesse, chats with her brother Clay, and truly cherished updates and time spent with her grand dogs.
She is survived by her husband of 34 years, Michael, mother Gale Kahl, brother Clay Stocks, son Jesse Morley, daughters Samantha (Brock) and Carlee, uncle Patrick Stocks, aunts Faye Rose and Phyllis Barby, and a slew of Goblers. She is reunited with her father, Clayton “Bud” Stocks, maternal aunts and uncles Delores Polus, Patricia Moen, Merwin Barby, and Irvin BarbyJr., stepfather Daniel Kahl, and father and mother-in-law George and Dereane Gobler.
