Alvin Michael

Alvin G. Michael, (Mike) born September 18 th , 1935 in Berwick, Pennsylvania went home to our father on September 10, 2023. Mike grew up working the family farm “with horses not tractors” as he was proud to point out. He joined the U.S. Army in March 1956 where he served for 20 years in missile defense, retiring with the rank of Sergeant First Class.

He was stationed at numerous US bases as well as deployed to Germany, Korea, and Okinawa. He married Jill Moore in 1957 and had 3 sons, Tim, Kim and Glenn. After retiring from the Army, he moved to Eau Claire, WI and worked at the Eau Claire Academy where he ran the maintenance department then became the Purchasing Director until he retired again at age 65.

Mike loved nature, spending time with family & friends and always had a great story to tell. He had many life-long hobbies, but two were particularly important to him, motorcycles and hunting. He shared the passion for motorcycles with his sons.

Many years you would see him and the boys riding in annual charity events including the King Veterans Run and taking long road trips. Sometimes crossing the country to visit the family farm in Pennsylvania.

Mike is survived by his wife of 66 years Jill; sons Tim “Thai”, Kim (Kathy), Glenn (Gail); six grandchildren, Andy, Danny, Chris, Sarah, Aaron, Ezra and two great grandchildren; his sister Shirley, brothers Marvin (Karen) and Fred.

He was preceded in death by his parents Clyde & Laura; brothers Clyde Jr. and LeRoy.

Memorial Mass will be held at 12:00pm on Saturday, September 30, 2023 at Calvary Baptist Church in Eau Claire. Visitation will take place at 11:00am until the time of service, with a luncheon to follow at the church.  To view online, please visit : Click here to watch.
