Arlene Halvorsen-Cutts

Arlene "Cookie" A. Halvorsen-Cutts, age 87 of Eau Claire, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Friday, January 31, 2025 at Oakbrook Health & Rehab in Thorp. Arlene was born on February 6, 1937 in East Chicago, IN to the late Michael and Ann Lawrence.

She was a member of the Elks Club and loved to camp, fish, dancing and getting together with her friends and family. Arlene was a great cook and loved to prepare food for family and friends. Canning and food preparation was her specialty.

Arlene once owned and operated Mel's diner Eau Claire. She worked as hair stylist, and a head cook in many big kitchens. She also provided care for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities at the DRC in Las Vegas.

She married, Douglas W. Cutts in Las Vegas. Douglas passed on June 12, 2005.

Arlene loved her toy poodle Cody, who was always by her side.

Arlene is survived by her children: Kitty A. Moen, Kjell C. (Becky) Halvorsen, Anna L. Halvorsen and Caroline K. (Ben) Koziel; grandchildren: Karissa, Michael, Tara, Heather, Orenda, Thomas, Chase, Nathan and Shyla; great-grandchildren: Garett, Paige, Taylor, Hazel, Rylee, Chelsea, Dean, Penny, Connor, Ben Jr. and 1 on the way; numerous other relatives and friends.

Preceding her in death are her parents, husband, granddaughter Allianna Marie, grandson Zach and siblings: Joe, Michael, Christopher and Larry Lawrence, Caroline Smith, Constance Zakarias and Betty Hixon.

A celebration of life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, February 18, 2025 at Stokes, Prock & Mundt Funeral Chapel, 535 S. Hillcrest Parkway, Altoona. Visitation will be from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will take place at Lakeview Cemetery, Eau Clarie.
